Optically interference variable pigment

What’s Optically Interference variable pigment (OIVP) ?

The optically interference variable pigment also known as OIVP, is comprised of multi-layer interference film stack with high specular(mirror-like) and specific color characteristic.

NewColorChem’s OIVP is manufactured by deposition of ultra-thin layers with different index using accurate physical vacuum deposition (PVD), is ground into micro-sized effect pigments. Based on multi-layer thin film interference and color-shift effect with the viewed angle, the reflective spectra will change depending on the different angle, the dramatic and fantastic color effect would be appeared.

Transparent OIVP

Unlike the ordinary chameleon pigments, Our OIVP is using symmetric total reflective film stack has strong interference effect and high mirror-like effect. The pigment’s dramatic color effect and metallic shininess are visible in a wide variety of lighting conditions and substrates.

What’s Ordinary Chameleon pigment ?

Chameleon series pearl pigments also called as color changing pigments, iridescent pigment, because it presents different colors from different viewing angles.

Our chameleon pearl pigments are made of new synthesized transparent tubular crystal materials covered by multiple metallic oxide coatings according to optical property principles. By absorbing and reflecting light rays, the pigments present bright peculiar colors and a dynamic color charming effect. They are widely used in cosmetics, paint, coating, plastic & PU leather. Each piece of pigment reflects constantly changing colors under the condition of different viewing angles and light ray incident angles

What’s similarity between OIVP and Ordinary chameleon pigment ?

Both of pigment are named as Optical Variable Pigment,as both of them are color shift pigment depending on the viewing angle.

What’s the main difference between OIVP and Ordinary chameleon pigment ?

1. Raw material:

OIVP pigment is made of multi-layer interference film stack, the interference film stack has first and second substantially parallel planar surfaces. The multilayer stack includes an opaque reflecting layer having first and second substantially planar surfaces that are parallel to the first and second parallel planar surfaces of the multilayer stack and at least one sequence disposed on one of the first and second surfaces of the opaque reflecting layer.

Ordinary Chameleon pigment is made of new synthesized transparent tubular crystal materials covered by multiple metallic oxide coatings according to optical property principles.

2. Applications:

Ordinary Chameleon pigment can be widely used in various industries, such as automobile, lacquer cosmetics, electrical appliances, plastics, printing, synthetic leather, and in high security printing of bank notes, negotiable securities etc.

Optically Interference variable pigment have been widely applied in optically variable ink and coating for the high-end anti-counterfeiting fields and the new coating market.
